The weather outside was not frightful, and inside Stimson Middle School it was delightful on Sunday, November 25th as South Huntington hosted another Winter Wonderland bringing the spirit of the holiday season to our school district’s children and their families. Hundreds showed up for what’s become one of our district’s favorite holiday traditions thanks to Stimson’s beautifully decorated halls and all the holiday activities put together by our staff and volunteers.

Sing-a-longs, read-a-longs, holiday crafts, hot chocolate and decorating gingerbread cookies helped get everyone into the holiday spirit. This year featured fun activities including snow inflatables, a petting zoo, a skating rink, a mechanical reindeer, and food trucks. Students and their families had the chance to have their photo taken with Santa and/or use the winter-themed backgrounds throughout the building, created by the Art Honor Society, as a way of remembering this joyful event and perhaps getting a jump on putting their holiday cards together! The day of activities concluded with the annual Christmas tree and Menorah lightings.

We would like to thank the numerous faculty and staff members who dedicated their time to this special event, Whitman’s Latino Heritage Club, Art Honor Society, Natural Helpers and the Girls Leaders Organization for the countless hours they spent preparing the festive scenes and entertaining our youngest district students. We are particularly grateful to our maintenance and custodial staff without whose efforts this event would not be possible.

We would also like to thank all of our South Huntington School District families who came out to enjoy this year’s Winter Wonderland event! It’s a wonderful way to kick-off the holiday season.
